Manchester United's resolve has finally been broken as Real Madrid have had an £80 million bid for the World Footballer of The Year accepted.
"United have agreed to give Real Madrid permission to talk to the player," said a statement from the English club. It is believed the decision came at the Portuguese international's request after he "again expressed his desire to leave".
The offer for the 24-year-old has been described as unconditional and it is expected that the matter will be concluded by the end of the month.
The world record £80 million fee will surpass the £56 million the Bernabeu outfit paid for Brazilian international Kaka earlier in the week and is another huge statement of intent from Florentino Perez's new administration.
After the long drawn out saga that dominated last summer, that ultimately saw Ronaldo remain at Old Trafford it would appear that Real Madrid have finally got their man.
